Manually Installing JRE 6 Update 12

To install via Banner, please see the section below.

JRE 6 Update 12 can be found on the USNH Gateway page in the Software Download
section under Availability, Downloads & Support.

Download the file to your local computer.  Double click on the file to begin the install. 

Click Accept to continue on the Java Setup window.

You will then see the install status screen.

Click Finish to complete the install.

To turn off Java updates:

1. Go to the Start menu.

2. Go to the Control Panel (which may be under Settings).

3. Double-click on the Java icon.

4. Select the Update tab in the Java Control Panel.

5. Uncheck the “Check for Updates Automatically” box. When prompted, choose the Never Check button. 

6. Click Apply and then OK to exit the Java Control Panel.

When you first go into Banner, you may see the following two screens.  Be sure to select
“Always trust content from this publisher” and select Run to continue.  You should only
see these warnings once as long as you have made this selection.  In some cases, these
Warning windows may be hidden below other windows. 

Installing JRE 6 Update 12 via Banner

When first going to the URL, it may take several minutes to be prompted to download
and install.

Right click on the yellow notification area and select Install ActiveX Control…

Again, wait several minutes.  You will then see the following.

Select Install

Accept the license agreement.

You will then see the install status screen.

Select Finish to complete the install.

When you first go into Banner, you may see the following two screens.  Be sure to select

Warning windows may be hidden below other windows. 

If you haven’t yet turned off automatic updates for Java, ensure that you do so now.

After logging into Banner:

1. Right-click on the Java icon (a blue coffee cup with red steam) located near the clock on your desktop.

2. Select Java Control Panel.

3. Select the Update tab in the Java Control Panel.

4. Uncheck the “Check for Updates Automatically” box. When prompted by the Java Update Warning choose the Never Check button. 

5. Click Apply and then OK to exit the Java Control Panel.

Do not restart your computer, even if prompted. Never allow/accept Java updates, until notified by ECG to do so.
