Automatic Install

After launching Banner, Kronos or FamisXI, you will see the following (or something similiar) in Internet Explorer:

Click on the popup message and select “Install ActiveX Control…”

Follow the prompts to install JRE6 Update 17.

You may or may not be prompted to close Internet Explorer during the install procedure.

If the following dialogue is presented, verify “Always trust content from this publisher” is selected and press Run to continue to the Banner session.

Manual Install

Download JRE 6 Update 17 from here. Execute the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install.

If the following dialogue is presented while launching Banner, verify “Always trust content from this publisher” is selected and press Run to continue to the Banner session.

Disabling JRE Automatic Updates

Running newer versions than JRE 6 Update 17 will be problematic for ECG applications. For this reason, it is very important to disable the JRE’s default behavior of enabling automatic updates.

Windows XP

To disable automatic updates, go to the Windows Control Panel and launch the Java applet. Select the Update tab and deselect the “Check for Updates Automatically” checkbox. Click Apply and OK. When asked when to check for updates, select Never.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Go to:

C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin

Right click on javacpl.exe and select “Run as Administrator”, select Yes to the User Account Control prompt. Select the Update tab and deselect the “Check for Updates Automatically” checkbox. Click Apply and OK. When asked when to check for updates, select Never.
