Installing Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.18

The following document is based on installing the Oracle JInitiator while connecting to Banner. Be aware that the install routine is activated via pop-up. If you have any third party pop-up blockers, please temporarily disable them or allow pop-ups from the Banner web site. The documentation below is based on Internet Explorer’s native pop-up blocker being enabled.

If you are installing the Oracle JInitator manually, download jinit.exe from here and save it locally to your computer. Double click on jinit.exe from wherever you saved it and continue on to Figure 4 after selecting Run.

After visiting the Student Banner web site without the JInitiator installed, you will see the following:

Click OK.

Right click on the yellow warning area and select Install ActiveX Control...

Wait for the ActiveX control to download. When the download is complete, you will see the following dialogue.

Click Install. You will now see:

Select Next. The JInitiator will install. You will be notified the install is complete. Click OK to continue.
